Questions about flat design online
The questions people ask before designing a flat.
Off-plan or an existing flat?
Both. Off-plan, the design sets the layout and finishes before handover. Already built, the design starts from what exists and what you want to change.
Do I need an architect or an interior designer?
If walls move or services are redone, an architect. If the focus is layout, joinery, materials and lighting, an interior designer. The brief lets you choose, and the proposals show who answers.
Does the freeholder or the lease require a signed design?
Many do, for works that touch structure or services. Say so in the brief and ask for professional liability in the proposal.
How much does it cost?
Publishing is free. Each professional sends their own proposal, with a price and a timeline. You pay per stage, as you approve the deliveries.
Can it be designed without a visit?
Yes. The apartment's plan, photos and a video are enough for most projects. A visit, when it makes sense, is arranged directly with the professional.
